ERIS & The Satanism Controversy

We acknowledge that there is controversy surrounding the claim of Satanism as a branch of Paganism, however that dispute lies outside the scope of ERIS' mission. We are trying to dispel misconceptions about positive, life-affirming religions, not reinforce stereotypes that have brought harm to modern NeoPagans.

The technical question of whether or not Satanism can be included in the definition of Paganism is still hotly debated. Until such time as a clear consensus emerges within the Pagan community to include Satanism in their self-definition, it is the intention of ERIS to distinguish between the two paths.
